Frequently Asked Questions
Should I buy blank towels, the bulk 30-pack, or order custom-printed towels?
Match by what you're trying to do. Single blank towel ($10.95) — for sublimation operators testing a new design before bulk production, hobbyists making one-off gifts, or anyone running a low-volume sublimation setup who wants to try the EU-made polyester/cotton substrate before committing. Bulk 30-pack ($289, $9.63/towel) — for B2B sublimation print shops, embroidery and decoration businesses, and Etsy sellers running steady volume. ~12% per-unit discount vs single purchase. 5.0/5 reviewed by a verified bulk buyer. Custom-printed towels ($23.99 each) — for end customers and businesses who DON'T sublimate themselves. Send us your artwork; we print and ship the finished towels. Perfect for event giveaways, resort and hotel branding, real-estate closing gifts, family reunions, sports teams, and small business swag. Most production print shops keep the bulk 30-pack on hand and use single blanks for design testing.
Why are these towels polyester on one side and cotton on the other?
Sublimation is the source of this design choice — and understanding it helps you sell the product. Sublimation dye only bonds with polyester (and polyester-coated substrates). The dye gasifies under heat (around 400°F) and chemically bonds with the polymer molecules; on natural fibers like cotton, the dye simply rinses out in the wash. But polyester alone makes a poor towel — it doesn't absorb water well, doesn't feel soft against skin, and underperforms classic cotton terrycloth as an actual beach or pool towel. The polyester-front-cotton-back design solves both: the print surface is 100% polyester (vibrant, permanent, full-color sublimation print), while the absorbent face that touches skin is soft cotton terrycloth. You get a real towel that performs like cotton AND a print surface that performs like sublimation polyester. This dual-fabric construction is standard in the sublimation towel industry and is why these towels print so well.
What temperature and time do I use to press these towels?
Standard sublimation press settings for these polyester-front towels: 400°F (204°C) for 60 seconds with firm pressure. Use sublimation transfer paper between the towel and the heat press platen to prevent dye migration to the platen. Pressing tips specific to terrycloth-backed towels: (1) The terry side has loft — use FIRM pressure to compress the towel and get the print paper flat against the polyester surface. Light pressure = blurry transfer. (2) Pre-press for 5 seconds to remove moisture from the towel before applying the transfer paper. (3) Allow the towel to cool for 10–15 seconds before peeling the transfer paper (cold peel). Hot peel can lift fine details and cause ghosting on towel fabric. (4) Wash test before bulk production — first wash should retain 95%+ color saturation. If color fades significantly, your press temp or time was too low.
What kinds of designs work best on sublimation beach towels?
Sublimation excels at full-color, photo-quality, edge-to-edge designs — the technology has essentially no extra cost per color, so a 7-color tropical sunset costs the same to print as a single-color logo. Best-performing design types: (1) Photo prints — family photos, scenic landscapes, event photography. Sublimation reproduces continuous-tone images beautifully. (2) Branded marketing towels — resort logos, real estate company branding, festival/event giveaways. Full bleed to the edges is possible (unlike screen printing). (3) Sports team and school towels — team colors, school mascots, jersey numbers. (4) Custom illustrations and artwork — pet portraits, custom watercolors, abstract designs. What doesn't work as well: very small text (under 8pt can blur on terrycloth), thin white lines (white is the substrate, not printed), and high-contrast halftone patterns (can moiré on the terry texture). For best results, design with 300 DPI source files in CMYK color space.
How long does the sublimation print last on these towels?
Properly pressed sublimation prints on quality polyester are permanent for the life of the towel — the dye is chemically bonded to the polymer fibers, not sitting on top like screen-print ink. What that means in practice: the towel will physically wear out before the print fades. The print won't crack, peel, or wash out. Care recommendations to maximize towel life: machine wash cold or warm (under 130°F), use mild detergent without optical brighteners, tumble dry low or line dry, avoid bleach and fabric softener (softeners coat fibers and reduce absorbency). With normal residential use, expect 3–5 years of regular use before the cotton terry side shows wear. Commercial pool/resort towels typically retire after 1–2 years due to bleach exposure and high-temperature commercial laundering — but that's the cotton wearing, not the print fading.
What is the return policy on blank and custom-printed towels?
Blank towels in original packaging are eligible for store credit only, not a refund to the original payment method. Custom-printed towels (printed-to-order with customer artwork) cannot be returned or exchanged — they're made specifically for your order and not resellable. Bulk box orders (30-pack) follow the same blank-towel policy: sealed and unopened = store credit eligible. Inspect your delivery on arrival; shipping damage or manufacturing defects must be reported within 48 hours with photo documentation. See our full
refund and return policy.
