Frequently Asked Questions
Which Konica printhead is in my printer?
Konica industrial heads are used across many OEM printer brands including Agfa Anapurna M-series, Docan, Inca, Flora, Jetbest, Sky-Air and Allwin. KM512 (MH / MN) is the legacy 512-nozzle head — MH has an integrated heater (UV/solvent), MN does not (solvent/oil). KM1024 (MHB / MNB / LHB) is the wider 1024-nozzle generation — MHB has a heater for UV inks, MNB is for solvent/oil, LHB is the large-drop 42pl variant. KM1024i (MAE-C, 6988H) is the high-speed single-pass industrial head used in textile and ceramic applications. Each product page lists the exact printer compatibility list.
What's the difference between KM1024 MHB and KM1024 MNB?
Both have 1024 nozzles at 360 dpi with a 14pl drop and 8-level greyscale. The difference is the integrated heater. MHB (MH) has a heater rated to 55°C — required for UV inks and high-viscosity oil-based inks where viscosity control matters. MNB (MN) has no heater — used for solvent and oil-based inks that don't need temperature regulation. Installing an MNB in a UV-ink printer will not jet correctly because the ink viscosity will be wrong. Always match the suffix exactly.
What's the difference between KM512 and KM1024?
KM1024 is twice the print width of KM512 with double the greyscale levels (8-level vs 4-level), at the same 14pl drop size and 360 dpi native resolution. The KM1024's newer actuator design runs at lower voltage, reducing power consumption. KM512 is still in production for legacy printers, but KM1024 is the higher-throughput choice for newer machines.
What drop size do I need — 6pl, 14pl or 42pl?
Drop size depends on the application. 6pl (KM1024i) is for the finest detail — photo-quality industrial and textile printing. 13–14pl (KM512 MH, KM1024 MHB/MNB) is the standard for wide-format UV and solvent signage. 42pl (KM1024 LHB) is for thick laydown applications like ceramic tile, glass and industrial coatings where ink film thickness matters more than fine detail.
Are these Konica printheads genuine?
Yes. All Konica printheads sold by Digiprint USA are genuine Konica Minolta originals, factory-sealed and never used, refurbished, or altered. Each ships with its original head ID and the waveform information required for installation, and is covered by a manufacturer warranty.
What is the warranty and return policy on Konica printheads?
All Konica printheads are covered under warranty, with a specific RMA process — we'll guide you through it. Warranty requires use of approved inks; non-approved inks or tampered/missing serial numbers void coverage. Printheads cannot be returned once installed or used. Sealed, unused printheads are eligible for store credit only, not a refund to the original payment method. Inspect your delivery on arrival; hidden defects must be reported within 48 hours.
