DTF Printhead Buying Guide
Resource Center › Buying Guides
The three dominant DTF printheads in 2026 — XP600, i1600-A1, and i3200-A1 — are not interchangeable. Each fits different printer hardware. This guide helps you choose the right head when selecting a new DTF printer, and explains the single-head vs dual-head configuration decision.
Not interchangeable: If you already own a DTF printer and need a replacement head, you must use the head your printer was built for. You cannot swap an XP600 machine to an i3200 head. This guide applies to choosing between printer models — not selecting a replacement head for an existing machine.
Quick recommendation by production volume
Under 20 linear metres/day
→ Single XP600. Lowest upfront machine cost, adequate throughput for entry-level volume. Focus on maintenance to maximise 3–6 month head life.
20–60 metres/day
→ Single i3200 or dual i1600. XP600 replacement frequency becomes a meaningful cost and downtime factor at this volume. i3200's longer lifespan improves economics.
60+ metres/day (commercial)
→ Dual i3200. Highest throughput. Higher upfront investment offset by output per head and reduced replacement frequency.
