What Does a Cutting Strip Do?
The cutting strip sits in the gutter rail of the CE Lite-50 platen — the channel the blade tip passes through during through-cut work. It provides a safe surface for the blade to fully penetrate media without contacting bare metal, protecting both the platen rail and the blade tip from damage. A worn strip causes inconsistent cut depth, incomplete cuts despite correct settings, media lifting, and accelerated blade dulling. Replacing it promptly restores clean, consistent cutting performance.

Installation Notes

What media does the CE Lite-50 cut that wears the strip?
Any through-cut application wears the strip — the blade must fully penetrate the media and contact the strip surface. On the CE Lite-50 the most common through-cut applications are heat transfer vinyl (HTV), self-adhesive vinyl, and paper-backed decal stock. Kiss-cutting applications (where the blade only cuts through the face film but not the liner) wear the strip much more slowly, as the blade does not reach the strip surface.
