Product Information

The Epson S3200-A3 is a genuine original PrecisionCore industrial inkjet printhead delivering 3,200 nozzles across a 120.2mm (4.73") print width at 600 dpi native resolution — the large-drop, large-gap aqueous variant of Epson's S3200 series. The A3 operates at the same 24 kHz system frequency as the S3200-A1 but produces droplets 1.4 times larger, enabling high print quality at high speeds even when the distance between the head and the media is significant — making it particularly suited to textile and corrugated/cardboard applications where head-to-substrate gap is wider than in conventional flatbed or roll-to-roll printing. Built on four PrecisionCore MicroTFP (Thin Film Piezo) chips in an S-shaped stagger configuration, with built-in ink recirculation, VSDT variable drop control, and a precision positioning hole for tool-free alignment. Head cable replacement is strongly recommended at installation. Every S3200-A3 we sell at Digiprint USA is 100% genuine original Epson.

S3200-A3 ≠ S3200-A1 — the A3 produces 1.4× larger drops for large-gap printing. The S3200-A1 and S3200-A3 are both aqueous variants of the same S3200 PrecisionCore platform, but they are not interchangeable. The A3 is engineered for applications where head-to-media distance is large (textiles, cardboard) and where a larger drop volume improves ink laydown and coverage at speed. The A1 is optimised for standard close-gap aqueous applications. Always confirm which variant your printer requires before ordering — install the wrong variant and print quality will be compromised. Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between S3200-A3 and S3200-A1?
Both are aqueous-only variants of the same Epson S3200 PrecisionCore platform — same 3,200 nozzles, same 120.2mm print width, same 600 dpi, same 24 kHz operating frequency, same S-shape chip layout. The key difference is drop size: the S3200-A3 produces drops 1.4 times larger than the A1. This larger drop volume is designed for applications where the distance between the printhead and the substrate is greater than in standard printing — such as textile printing on thick or uneven fabric, or corrugated cardboard printing. The A1 is optimised for standard close-gap aqueous printing. They are not interchangeable — your printer's OEM specification determines which variant is required.

What is VSDT and how does it improve print quality?
VSDT — Variable Sized Droplet Technology — is Epson's proprietary system for freely controlling the volume of each ejected droplet on a nozzle-by-nozzle, firing-by-firing basis. Rather than producing a fixed drop size, the PrecisionCore chip can vary drop volume within the range to produce smooth gradations, fine detail, and solid fills without requiring additional passes or dithering. In the S3200-A3's large-gap context, VSDT is particularly valuable because it compensates for the greater aerodynamic variation at larger print distances — smaller drops for fine detail, larger drops for solid areas — delivering consistent quality across the full tonal range.

Why is head cable replacement recommended when installing the S3200-A3?
The head cable carries all data and power signals between the printer's main board and the printhead. Over time — and especially after the failure of the old head — cables can develop intermittent electrical faults, resistance increases, or damaged insulation that do not always present as obvious cable failures. If a marginal cable is used with a new S3200-A3, it can cause inconsistent nozzle firing, waveform errors, or complete head non-response that is incorrectly diagnosed as a faulty new head. Replacing the cable at the same time as the head eliminates this risk and protects the investment in a new Epson PrecisionCore unit.

Do you ship the Epson S3200-A3 to Latin America?
Yes — same day shipping from our Doral, Miami FL warehouse before 2PM EST. Our Miami location is ideal for Latin American Flora X3 and aqueous textile production shops using freight forwarders in the Doral area.
