Product Information

The Epson SureColor T Series Printhead (part number FA10030, superseding FA10010) is the genuine original replacement printhead for the Epson SureColor T-series large-format printers — the industry-standard platform for CAD, GIS, architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) wide-format output. Built on the Epson DX6 MicroPiezo platform, this 8-channel, 5,760-nozzle aqueous pigment head delivers 3.5 pl precision drop control at up to 50 kHz and maximum resolution of 2880 × 1440 dpi. It is compatible with both single-roll and dual-roll printer configurations across the full SureColor T3000, T5000, and T7000 generation range. Every FA10030 we stock at Digiprint USA is 100% genuine original Epson — not aftermarket, not compatible, not refurbished.

Aqueous pigment inks only. The FA10030 is engineered for Epson's UltraChrome T3 aqueous pigment ink system used in the SureColor T series. It is not compatible with dye-based, eco-solvent, UV, or latex inks. Use of non-genuine Epson inks or third-party ink systems will damage the printhead and void the manufacturer warranty.

Installation advisory — replace head cables at the same time. It is strongly recommended to replace the head data cables when installing a new FA10030 printhead. Worn cables from the previous head are a leading cause of nozzle communication errors and drop-out after installation, and are not covered under printhead warranty. Order replacement cables before scheduling the swap.

Part Number Supersession — FA10010 → FA10030

FA10030 is the current active Epson part number, superseding the original FA10010. If your service documentation, maintenance records, or prior order history shows FA10010, FA10000, or FA10020, the FA10030 is the correct current replacement — no configuration changes are required on installation. All are the same DX6 MicroPiezo printhead assembly; the number changes reflect Epson's revision-level part catalogue updates only.

The DX6 MicroPiezo Platform — Built for Technical Precision

The FA10030 is built on the Epson DX6 MicroPiezo drop-on-demand platform — the printhead generation Epson developed specifically for high-precision aqueous pigment printing on the SureColor T series. The DX6 brought a step-change in nozzle density and drop control over its DX5 predecessor, with 720 nozzles per channel (vs 360 on DX5) enabling native high-resolution output without multi-pass oversampling. The 3.5 pl minimum drop size, 50 kHz operating frequency, and 2880 × 1440 dpi maximum resolution position the FA10030 as a technical output head — engineered for the fine line weights, precise colour transitions, and accurate dimensional rendering that CAD drawings, GIS maps, architectural plans, and engineering plots demand. Pigment ink on the SureColor T series is water- and fade-resistant on a wide range of coated, uncoated, matte, and fine art media — making the platform equally capable for photographic posters and fine art reproduction alongside technical document output.

Single-Roll vs Dual-Roll — Same Printhead

The SureColor T5200D and T7200D models include a dual-roll media handling system for unattended batch printing across two media rolls. The FA10030 printhead is identical across single-roll and dual-roll configurations — the "D" suffix on the printer model number refers only to the media handling architecture, not the print engine or head assembly. If you are servicing a T5200D or T7200D, the FA10030 is the correct replacement part, the same as for the single-roll T5200 or T7200.

Common Maintenance Considerations for the SureColor T Series

Ink clogging after inactivity: Aqueous pigment inks can thicken in the nozzle channels after extended periods without printing. Run 1–2 cleaning cycles with 30-minute intervals between them if nozzle check patterns show missing or deflected nozzles after downtime.

Damper replacement: Ink dampers can accumulate pigment sediment in older T-series machines. Replacing dampers every 4–6 months and maintaining a consistent printing schedule reduces nozzle blockage risk and extends head life.

Cable replacement at head swap: Head data cables degrade through carriage flexing and ink vapour exposure over time. Always replace cables simultaneously with the printhead to eliminate the most common cause of post-installation nozzle errors.

Applications

CAD and technical drawing output — architectural plans, engineering drawings, construction documents at D-size and E-size on the SureColor T series

GIS and mapping — high-resolution cartographic output requiring accurate colour and fine line rendering

Wide-format posters and graphics — indoor and outdoor signage, marketing materials, and display graphics with pigment durability

Photographic and fine art reproduction — 2880 × 1440 dpi output on matte, glossy, and fine art papers for gallery-quality prints

Education and reprographics — print-for-pay and in-house reprographics operations producing mixed technical and graphic output

Warranty Notice

This printhead carries a genuine Epson manufacturer warranty. Warranty coverage is voided by: use of non-original Epson inks or any third-party ink system (including bulk ink systems), nozzle clogging caused by non-original inks, misuse, neglect, failure to perform periodic maintenance, improper media loading, and damage caused by third-party components or software. Due to the sensitive nature of inkjet printhead components, Digiprint USA cannot accept returns or refunds once the printhead has been installed. All sales are final. Contact us with any compatibility or installation questions before ordering.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does FA10030 replace FA10010 directly?
Yes. FA10030 is the current active Epson part number that directly supersedes FA10010. The physical assembly and specifications are identical — the part number change is a catalogue revision only. If your service records or printer manual show FA10010, the FA10030 is the correct current replacement with no additional configuration steps.

What is the difference between FA10000, FA10010, FA10020, and FA10030?
These are successive Epson part number revisions for the same DX6 MicroPiezo printhead assembly used in the SureColor T series. FA10000 and FA10010 are the earliest designations; FA10020 and FA10030 are later revisions. All refer to the same head platform. FA10030 is the current active number. If your records show any earlier number, FA10030 is the correct replacement.

Is the FA10030 compatible with both the T5200 and the T5200D?
Yes. The "D" in T5200D refers only to the dual-roll media handling system — not the print engine or printhead. The FA10030 is the same part across the T5200 and T5200D, as well as the T7200 and T7200D. Single-roll and dual-roll models share an identical printhead replacement procedure.

Can I use third-party inks with this printhead?
No — and doing so will void the manufacturer warranty. The FA10030 is calibrated for Epson's UltraChrome T3 aqueous pigment ink formulation. Third-party inks are not matched to the DX6 nozzle plate chemistry and drop-weight tuning, and will cause nozzle plate degradation, colour profile errors, and premature head failure. Epson's warranty exclusions explicitly cover any damage related to non-original inks.

Do you ship the Epson SureColor T series printhead to Latin America?
Yes — same day shipping from our Doral, Miami FL warehouse. Our location is ideal for Latin American architecture, engineering, reprographics, and print-for-pay operations using freight forwarders in the Doral area.
