The Ricoh GH2220 UV Ink Damper is a replacement ink damper for industrial inkjet printers using the Ricoh GH2220 printhead. The damper regulates ink back-pressure between the ink supply and the GH2220 printhead, buffers pressure fluctuations caused by carriage movement, and filters particles from the ink before they reach the nozzle channels. Compatible with UV-curable, solvent, and aqueous ink systems on Oric, WER, Winjet, Yuxunda, Xante, Ricoh DTG, Colorjet, and Gunsjet GH2220-based printers. Replace the damper at every GH2220 printhead installation and on a scheduled maintenance interval.

What Does the GH2220 Damper Do?
The GH2220 printhead requires a precisely controlled negative back-pressure at its ink inlet to maintain stable ink menisci at each nozzle opening. Without correct back-pressure — maintained by the damper's internal membrane — ink floods through the nozzles at rest (positive pressure) or air is drawn into the nozzle channels (excessive negative pressure). Both conditions cause print quality failure. The damper also absorbs the rapid pressure fluctuations caused by carriage acceleration and deceleration during printing, preventing those spikes from reaching the printhead and causing droplet size variation and banding. A secondary function is particle filtration — the damper's internal screen traps particles before they can reach and score the GH2220's precision silicon nozzle plate.
Signs the GH2220 Damper Needs Replacing
• Banding or streaking that persists despite cleaning cycles — pressure instability from a failed damper membrane
• Ink leaking from the damper body — seal failure
• Air bubbles in the ink supply line after the damper — membrane permeability failure
• Inconsistent drop formation — damper no longer buffering carriage pressure spikes
• Scheduled replacement — every few months in production use, or at every printhead installation

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the GH2220 damper do?
The GH2220 damper regulates the negative back-pressure at the printhead ink inlet, absorbs pressure fluctuations from carriage movement, and filters particles from the ink supply before they reach the nozzle channels. Correct back-pressure is essential for stable 3–21pl drop formation — a failed damper causes banding, flooding, or air ingestion at the nozzles regardless of printhead condition.
How often should I replace the GH2220 damper?
Replace at every GH2220 printhead installation as standard practice. In continuous production use, also replace every few months — damper membranes degrade over time from ink chemical exposure and repeated pressure cycling. Early signs of damper failure include persistent banding despite cleaning cycles, ink leaking from the damper body, or air bubbles appearing in the ink supply line after the damper position.
Do you ship GH2220 dampers to Latin America?
Yes — same day shipping from our Doral, Miami FL warehouse. Digiprint USA is the closest US supplier to GH2220-based UV printer operations in Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, Peru, Chile, Argentina, and the Caribbean.
