The Toshiba TEC CE4M is a genuine original industrial-grade greyscale printhead engineered for high-resolution UV and oil-based pigment printing applications. Unlike binary printheads, the CE4M uses multi-drop piezoelectric technology to produce up to 16 levels of greyscale — enabling ultra-smooth gradient reproduction and precise ink control with drop volumes from 5 to 35 picoliters. With 636 active nozzles, a 53.7mm print width, and integrated temperature control water channels, it is built for demanding production environments. Every CE4M we sell at Digiprint USA is 100% genuine Toshiba TEC and ships with Head ID, voltage, and waveform information.

Most standard industrial printheads operate in binary mode — each nozzle either fires or does not, producing a single drop size. The CE4M's multi-drop technology allows each nozzle to fire drops of varying sizes (5pl through 35pl) in 16 distinct levels. This produces dramatically smoother gradients, finer highlight detail, and more accurate mid-tone reproduction than binary heads — without requiring additional passes or head staggering. For UV applications where print quality on reflective substrates is critical, 16-level greyscale is a significant advantage.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Toshiba CE4M and CE4?
The CE4M is the multi-drop version of the Toshiba TEC CE4 platform — the M designation indicates multi-level greyscale capability (16 levels vs binary). The CE4 without the M designation operates in binary mode only. The CE4M produces significantly better image quality in gradient and mid-tone areas. Always confirm which variant your printer is designed for before ordering.
What inks are compatible with the CE4M?
The CE4M is compatible with UV-curable inks and oil-based pigment inks. It is not recommended for water-based or solvent inks — always confirm ink compatibility with your specific printer system and the ink manufacturer's recommendations.
Why does the CE4M ship with Head ID and waveform information?
The Head ID is an embedded chip that communicates with the printer's control board — it contains waveform data (the electrical firing profile) specific to that head. The printer reads the Head ID on installation to configure the correct driving parameters. Without the correct Head ID the printer will not recognise the head. All genuine CE4M heads include the Head ID and waveform information pre-loaded.
What does the integrated water channel do?
The CE4M includes internal water channels for temperature regulation. UV inks and oil-based pigment inks have viscosity characteristics that are sensitive to temperature — maintaining a consistent head temperature ensures stable ink viscosity at the nozzle, which directly affects drop formation accuracy and print consistency. The water channel circulates temperature-controlled fluid through the head body.
Do you ship Toshiba CE4M printheads to Latin America?
Yes — same day shipping from our Doral, Miami FL warehouse. Our Miami location is ideal for Latin American industrial UV print shops using freight forwarders in the Doral area.
