Availability: In stock

The Graphtec FC7000/FC8000/FC8600 Teflon Cutting Strip (part number 51407-142) is the genuine original Graphtec replacement cutting mat strip for the FC7000-130, FC7000MK2-130, FC8000-130, and FC8600-130 cutting plotters — all 51" cutting width models. This single-strip consumable protects the platen gutter rail from blade contact and shields the blade from premature dulling caused by striking bare metal during through-cut work. Each order contains one strip, approximately 5mm wide and pre-cut to the 24" gutter rail length, with an aggressive adhesive backing for secure installation and a rigid Teflon (PTFE) base on the blade-facing side. Every 51407-145 we stock at Digiprint USA is 100% genuine original Graphtec — not aftermarket, not generic.

FC7000/FC8000/FC8600 vs FC9000 — Different Cutting Strips
The FC7000/FC8000/FC8600 series and the newer FC9000 series use different cutting strip designs and part number families. The key differences:
| Feature | FC7000/FC8000/FC8600 (this listing) | FC9000 |
|---|---|---|
| Part number series | 51407-141 to 51407-145 | PM-CR-005 to PM-CR-008 |
| Strip width | ~5mm | 10mm |
| Quantity per order | 1 strip | 2-pack |
| Interchangeable? | No — different width, different gutter rail geometry | |
What Does a Cutting Strip Do?
The cutting strip sits in the gutter rail of the FC7000/FC8000/FC8600 platen — the narrow recessed channel the blade tip passes through when making a through-cut. Its role is twofold: it provides a safe, controlled surface for the blade tip to fully penetrate without contacting the bare metal rail beneath, and it cushions blade contact to prevent premature tip dulling and chipping. When the strip is worn — visibly grooved along the cutting path — it no longer provides consistent blade penetration depth, leading to incomplete cuts, media lifting, and accelerated blade wear. Keeping a replacement strip in stock means zero downtime when it's time to swap.
When to Replace Your Cutting Strip
Replace the 51407-145 when you notice:
• Deep grooves worn into the strip surface along the primary cutting path
• Incomplete cuts despite correct blade force and depth — a worn strip shifts effective blade penetration depth
• Media lifting or pulling during cutting as the degraded strip loses consistent backing
• Blade tips dulling faster than normal — worn strip exposes bare metal beneath
• Visible crumbling, discolouration, or loss of the non-stick Teflon surface
Installation Notes
Clean the gutter rail thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol to remove ink, adhesive residue, and debris from the old strip. Allow to dry completely. Peel the adhesive liner from the new strip, align one end with the gutter rail, and press firmly along the full length to bond. Allow 15–30 minutes before running a cutting job. After installation, verify blade force and depth settings — the fresh strip surface may require minor adjustment to maintain the same through-cut quality.
Why Genuine Graphtec vs Aftermarket
The FC7000/FC8000/FC8600 series sets blade force and depth calibration against the gutter rail geometry and strip thickness specification. Aftermarket strips that differ in thickness — even slightly — shift the effective cut depth from calibration, requiring recalibration and risking blade tip breakage on thick or rigid media. Genuine Graphtec 51407-145 strips are manufactured to the exact PTFE thickness of the FC7000/FC8000/FC8600-60's factory specification, ensuring blade force settings remain accurate without recalibration after strip replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is 51407-145 compatible with the FC9000?
No. The FC9000 uses a different, wider cutting strip from the PM-CR series (PM-CR-005 through PM-CR-008, 10mm wide). The 51407-145 is ~5mm wide and sized for the FC7000/FC8000/FC8600 gutter rail geometry only. Using the wrong strip width leaves sections of the gutter rail unprotected or prevents proper seating. If you have an FC9000, see our FC9000 PM-CR cutting strip listings.
Is this compatible with the FC7000MK2?
Yes. The FC7000MK2 (Mark II revision) uses the same gutter rail and cutting strip specification as the original FC7000. Part number 51407-145 is the correct strip for FC7000MK2-60 as well as FC7000-60, FC8000-60, and FC8600-60.
How many strips come in this order?
One (1) strip per order. Unlike the FC9000 PM-CR strips which come as a 2-pack, the FC7000/FC8000/FC8600 51407-series strips are sold individually. Order two if you want one installed and one in reserve.
Do you stock cutting strips for other FC7000/FC8000/FC8600 sizes?
Yes — we stock all five sizes. Part numbers 51407-141 (63" / -160 model), 51407-142 (51" / -130 model), 51407-143 (39" / -100 model), and 51407-144 (30" / -75 model) are all available. Search by part number or contact us to order the correct strip for your machine size.
