I1600-A1 vs I3200-A1 — Which Do You Need?

Both are PrecisionCore water-based printheads but they are not interchangeable. The I1600-A1 has 1,600 nozzles across 4 rows at 300 npi per row. The I3200-A1 also has 1,600 nozzles but uses a different row configuration, wider print width, and different chip architecture. They fit different printers. Check your printer’s specification sheet or contact our team to confirm which head your machine requires before ordering.

I1600-A1 vs XP600 — The Key Upgrade

The I1600-A1 offers 1,600 nozzles versus 1,080 on the XP600 F1080-A1, and native 600 dpi resolution versus interpolated 1440 dpi on the XP600. For DTF and textile production environments running high volumes, the I1600-A1 delivers faster throughput and more consistent ink placement. It is the natural upgrade path for shops moving from XP600-based machines.

Important — I1600 Series Variants

The I1600 series includes three variants — always verify your printer requires the A1 before ordering:

I1600-A1 (this listing) — water-based inks: DTF, sublimation, textile

I1600-E1 — eco-solvent inks: wide-format eco-solvent printers

I1600-U1 — UV-curable inks: UV flatbed and roll-to-roll printers

Each variant fits different printers and is not interchangeable. Installing the wrong variant will cause incompatibility with your printer’s ink system.

Compatible Printers

DTF printers: Chinese DTF printers specifically built for the I1600-A1 platform — including Oric, Fedar, and other manufacturers’ I1600-based 24” and 30” DTF machines.

Textile and sublimation printers: Wide-format textile and sublimation printers built on the I1600-A1 platform.

Contact our team with your printer make and model to confirm I1600-A1 compatibility before ordering.

Recommended Accessories — Replace at the Same Time

When installing a new I1600-A1 printhead always replace the cables and inspect the capping unit at the same time. Installing a new head on worn accessories is the most common cause of premature failure. In typical daily DTF use an I1600-A1 printhead lasts 4 to 6 months — see our printhead lifespan guide for replacement cycles by model and tips to extend service life:

Epson I1600 14-pin head data cable — replace every printhead change

Epson I1600 / I3200 / 5113 capping unit — inspect and replace if worn

Compatible ink dampers — replace when fitting a new head

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between I1600-A1 and I3200-A1?
Both are PrecisionCore water-based printheads with 1,600 nozzles but they are not interchangeable — they have different row configurations, chip architectures, and fit different printers. Check your printer specification or contact our team before ordering. See our I3200-A1 listing if your printer uses the I3200.

What is the difference between I1600-A1, I1600-E1 and I1600-U1?
The A1 is for water-based inks (DTF, sublimation, textile). The E1 is for eco-solvent inks. The U1 is for UV-curable inks. They are not interchangeable — each is designed for a specific ink chemistry and fits different printer models. Always confirm your printer’s exact variant before ordering.

Is the I1600-A1 better than the XP600?
For high-volume DTF production, yes. The I1600-A1 has 1,600 nozzles versus 1,080 on the XP600, native 600 dpi resolution, and higher throughput. For entry-level and mid-volume machines, the XP600 remains the most cost-effective option.

What cables do I need when replacing the I1600-A1?
You need the Epson I1600 14-pin head data cable. We stock this — visit our cables section and add it to your order before checkout to avoid a second shipping charge.

How long does the I1600-A1 printhead last?
In typical daily DTF production the I1600-A1 lasts 4 to 6 months. White ink pigment settling is the main lifespan limiter, not the head itself. Running continuous circulation, replacing dampers every 3 to 4 months, and doing daily nozzle checks can extend that significantly. See our printhead lifespan guide for full data across all Epson models.

Do you ship to Latin America?
Yes — same day shipping from our Doral, Miami FL warehouse. Our Miami location is ideal for Latin American DTF print shops and resellers using freight forwarders in the Doral area.
